A substantial portion of the services provided by psychologists includes assessment. From brief assessment to more comprehensive evaluations, assessment touches on a range of constructs including intellectual function, academic function, occupational interests and abilities, behavioral health and quality of life, emotional and personality function, adaptive function, neuropsychological functioning (e.g., attention/concentration, memory, and executive skills), and others. Trainees are encouraged to learn not only about the underlying concepts and theories of assessment, but to become familiar with available tools and the professional standards guiding their use. The following pages will connect you with information and resources about assessment:
- About Assessment & Terminology
- Professional Standards
- Free Domain Measures
These pages do not constitute a comprehensive listing of all information and resources available to you, but they do represent a very good place in which you can start learning more about assessment, particularly the tools which are commonly used in interdisciplinary health care settings. We are happy to address any questions that you may have, but please check all available listed resources first before directing your questions to WIHPT. Happy surfing!
